Position:  Development Officer, Communications & Annual Fund

Department: Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF)

Status:  Full-time (7.5 hour days, Monday to Friday)

The Foundation is managed by an Executive Director supported by a volunteer board. Board members, who are elected from Milton area residents, are committed to helping Milton District Hospital meet the needs of the community now and in the future.

Position Overview :

To serve as an active member of the Milton District Hospital Foundation’s professional fundraising team, by raising funds and public awareness in the community through a variety of means.

This is what you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and execute the roll out of new corporate communication materials that encourages continued philanthropy using design skills such as Canva, Publisher and Photoshop (Foundation Newsletter, Annual Report etc.)
  • Source vendors, issue and evaluate RFPs, and negotiate contracts with communication suppliers and agencies
  • Design, produce, and maintain event microsites and personal giving pages
  • Develop and maintain social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and contribute to the development of digital communication strategies
  • Work with vendors on approvals and file uploads
  • Promote community and signature events using online methods
  • Work with third-party consultants to execute direct response program for acquisition, house and acquisition programs,   including mail, telemarketing, digital and face to face methods.
  • development and approval of campaign brief, determine equipment/messaging/story for each appeal, oversee copy and design and facilitate data exports and imports
  • Prepare portfolio budget, in consultation with the Executive Director and measure results against expected outcomes
  • Prepare initiative analysis and identify key trends and metrics, with support from consultants
  • Act as a primary liaison with Medical Records to obtain grateful patient data

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Completion of a Fundraising Management program from a recognized Community College an asset
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Prior use of database software an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High level of energy and strong goal orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to meet multiple deadlines, produce a high quality degree of work and contribute as a key skilled team member
  • Professionally interacts with co-workers, donors, volunteers, physicians,, patients and their families in a way that demonstrates that everyone involved in patient care is valuable
  • Strong communicator; listen for clarity and meaning, and to speak in an honest and straightforward manner to ensure mutual understanding in a conversation
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility; to model a sound understanding of, and work within, the financial boundaries
