Position:  Licensed Trade Technician

Department:  Facilities Management

Status:  Regular Full-time

Hours:  Monday to Friday – 7.5 hour days (Hours may be subject to change based on operational needs.)

Site:  Georgetown

This is what you’ll be doing:

    • Maintain, inspect and operate a Power Plant including boilers, combustion controls, water softeners, refrigeration equipment and roof top units.
    • Operate a fire alarm system and be familiar with fire plan procedures
    • Perform daily inspections throughout the hospital
    • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on wheeled equipment including beds, stretchers and wheelchairs
    • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on kitchen equipment including commercial dishwasher, garbeurator and pot washer.
    • Complete plumbing repairs to sinks, toilets and hoppers.
    • Permorm some external work including snow removal, sanding and grounds keeping as needed
    • Participate in “on call” rotation and be on site within 40 minutes
  • Other duties as assigned

  • College level education or equivalent work-related knowledge of building operations and maintenance services required
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in Power Plant operation (steam generators, refrigeration units, building automation systems) required
  • Valid Ontario Mechanic, HVAC, Refrigeration, Engineering or Gas Fitter License required
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated public relation skills and the ability to diplomatically respond to inquiries in a demanding work environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Must be physically able to do the job which involves lifting, bending, stretching and pulling in excess of 30 pounds and standing for extended periods.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Salary:  $31.52 to $34.12 per hour
