Position:  Major Gift & Community Engagement Officer

Department: Milton District Hospital Foundation

Status: Full Time – Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday Days, 8 hour shifts, evenings and weekends as necessary (subject to change based on operational requirements)

The Foundation is managed by an Executive Director supported by a volunteer board. Board members, who are elected from Milton area residents, are committed to helping Milton District Hospital meet the needs of the community now and in the future.

Major Gift & Community Engagement Officer

Reporting to the Associate Director, Major Gifts & Development, the Major Gift & Community Engagement Officer will develop, cultivate and steward relationships with donors and volunteer committees to support their fundraising efforts and maximize fundraising potential. In addition, this role will support the development team by executing engaging donor events, engaging community members, and building trusted relationships with donors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Together with senior Foundation staff, assist the major gift program to identify, analyze and evaluate donors utilizing Raiser’s Edge and other research tools
  • Manage system and software to track donors and prospects and work with the Major Gift team to implement Moves management plans
  • Provide support to the Development Committee and work closely with Foundation Staff to ensure successful execution of fundraising and stewardship strategies and programs to maximize revenues, including preparing and delivering proposals, presentations and other communications materials.
  • Build meaningful relationships with community leaders and inspire their philanthropy
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit new prospects and community engagement opportunities
  • Work closely with volunteer committees, ensuring that the skill, capabilities and strengths of volunteers and volunteer leaders are recognized and maximized
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of assigned community and signature events
  • Collaborate with the development team to execute effective cultivation and stewardship events which engage new donors and steward existing donors
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including community groups, cultural groups, BIA and Chamber of Commerce, and organizations interested in supporting Milton District Hospital
  • Represent the Foundation at external events, including meetings, luncheons, and recognition activities  

Job Requirements and Skills :

  • College and/or university degree required
  • Fundraising Management Certificate preferred
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a non-profit environment
  • Volunteer management experience including working with volunteer committees
  • Demonstrate self-confidence, flexibility, initiative, perseverance and integrity
  • Ability to maintain a positive, flexible and responsive attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and on your own with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database an asset
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings when necessary
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
