Status:  Full-time

Site:  Milton District Hospital

Hours:  Monday to Friday days plus on-call nursing administration rotation

Halton Healthcare - Milton District Hospital, is looking for a Patient Care Manager. This unique opportunity combines management responsibility for a 34,000 visit Emergency Department as well as some ambulatory clinics e.g. Orthopedic Clinic.  This opportunity is even more compelling given that you will be instrumental in the transition to an exciting capital expansion of MDH which will more than triple the size of the existing hospital.

This is what you'll be doing:

Responsible for the daily operations of the Emergency Department and a modest number of ambulatory clinics with potential for an expanded portfolio in the future.  This position includes implementing and supporting clinical program priorities and innovations in patient care, while ensuring a patient-centred approach, quality patient care, collaborative team work and fiscal responsibility.  Will have on-call administration duties for the Milton District Hospital site.

  • B.Scn. required
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario mandatory.
  • Masters level preparation in business or health care field preferred
  • Demonstrated previous management experience in an emergency department/critical care areas required
  • Proven leadership and change management skills
  • Demonstrated focus on the patient experience, patient safety and continuous quality improvement
  • Exhibits excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrates a current knowledge base regarding best practice for care of the emergency patient and draws upon contemporary evidence and/or research based practice methods and standards
  • Demonstrated innovation related to enabling key Emergency Department wait time initiatives
  • Proven financial management abilities
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others towards professional excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to support team-building, development of staff and conflict resolution etc.
  • Action oriented in terms of time lines
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record
