Position: Unit Clerk

Department: Mental Health Treatment Unit 2

Status: Part-time (must provide availability up to 0.4 FTE)

Hours:  Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 8 hour shifts (hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Site:  Oakville

This is what you’ll be doing:

Provides secretarial support to the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. Duties include but not limited to, answering phones, booking pre-op clinic appointments and procedures with Doctor's office staff, payroll preparation, unit statistical data recording, registering patients, chart management, printing wrist bands, preferred accommodations, completing requisitions, transcribing doctors' orders, scheduling appointments, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies, maintaining storage rooms, filing, data entry on computer system, staff scheduling and other duties as required.

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Medical Terminology required
  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or will consider equivalent recent working experience in a similar setting required
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience and ability to multi-task in a fast paced stressful environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Salary Scale: $19.08 to $23.82 per hour
